Lately I've been thinking a lot about how I switched over the tons of bad foods and chemicals in our house. Because of my cancer I had an epiphany and just jumped right into making huge changes in the aspects of food, health and home. Which worked but also didn't work in a way. Without doing the research on changing our food, it ends up being more expensive due to not having a plan. Without a meal plan its very easy to get discouraged and turn to take out instead of healthy home cooked meals. But it worked with getting rid of all the chemicals out of our house. As I've been learning more by researching I've been changing more.
One of my goals was to have daily routines/rhythms for cooking, cleaning that help me to have a more efficient and organized house. I've been working on morning and night routines/rhythms to implement right away when I get home so that I start off on the right foot thing time. They aren't very time specific as much as some other people's may be since I don't really have time constraints being a stay at home mom. But as the words imply the morning and evening ones will be just for those time blocks and I'll have lists of items to do in between those times.
So I thought I'd share my morning routine/rhythm that I came up with. It will probably be tweaked some more between now and the first week of implementing it. But here it is:
Wake up before boys
Shower
Coffee/tea
Take dogs out
Morning Devotions
Start breakfast
Wake up boys
Eat breakfast
Clean kitchen
Play time
Nolan's morning nap
Alex's school lesson
Lunch
I'll have to figure out what time to wake up so that I am awake before them with enough time to start my morning out properly with a shower, devotions and a moment or more to breathe with a cup of warm tea or coffee. I also like the idea of starting my morning out with adding a morning yoga session to aid in waking up, but will have to see if I can add that after this has became an established habit.
If I continue to streamline every aspect of my life, I will be able to find a great balance for being a homemaker, stay at home mom, wife and be able to have time for myself. I had started to purge our house of the unnecessary and unwanted. I like the idea of being a minimalist with a few added charming decor pieces. Not with an overwhelming amount of anything. Its not healthy to have an over abundance of things as material items will not make you feel worthy or happy. But the memories you make with your family will last you a lifetime. That's not saying that having beautiful things is bad, but letting them run your life isn't good.
I have a lot of thoughts about different ways to improve it all which gives me the idea of a post of pictures for an "idea board" in a sense. But that's for another day. I hope this post isn't too much of a scattered one for people.
Have a good day, everyone! And remember to take a moment to breathe and charge your batteries.
I would love to try this. I may have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom very soon. I was always worried about the cost of it though, because as you say, it can get expensive. I would love to know more about some of the things you switched from and replaced them with...I love the minimal clutter idea as well.
ReplyDeleteI started by removing all the chemicals that I cleaned the house with. I have some cleaning supply recipes here http://asplashofmudandasprinkleofglitter.blogspot.com/2012/12/crunchy-cleaning-supplies.html
ReplyDeleteFor food I started by getting rid of everything but that was too drastic. I recommend removing everything that has high fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners first. You can message me on Facebook to talk more about it :)
